Solo Exhibition

by David Yoan

Official Opening:

January 20 at 7:00 PM

David Yoan’s exhibition offers a look into urban contemporary art. Beyond being his first solo exhibition, it is a unique act of bridge-building. We are accustomed to interpreting graffiti as a form of street art or art in the outdoor environment. Building bridges between the roots of street art and the reality of contemporary urban art is a necessity for us. Thus, we have included this direction in our program, where you will become acquainted with the main destinations and locations of the international street art scene. Our first stop is David Yoan’s exhibition, where creativity is as hot as the themes that occupy him. An impossible dialogue? Perhaps not.

Urban art, influenced by distractions in public space to studio creations, abounds with references to and reinterpretations of ancient and classical works. What if urban art could reconcile the ancient and the modern? To touch upon this complex question, let us speak with the main players in this game. David Yoan is one of them. For 16 years, he has participated in interventions with like-minded individuals in the urban environment. Always masked and often pursued by the police. The art is illegal, yet it so passionately captivates the young artist that it is almost impossible for anything to stop him from creating.
