Filthy Rags is a collective known from the street art scene, which has established itself in recent years with a striking series of actions in gallery and alternative spaces in Bulgaria and abroad. “Zoo” is their latest one-night exhibition featuring large-format colorful canvases, capturing metamorphoses, incarnations, and physical changes resulting from internal human struggle.
The eternal themes of matter—perishable and vanishing—and the spirit—awake, elevated, and searching. Locked messages and metaphors. The enigmatic signs in the canvases, encoded and presented as if in a game, provide enough material for the viewer and their imagination to pique interest, to become enthralled and actively participate in the process of transformation, until realizing that this is a live game with life, that this is the murder of the vital geosystem, an experiment with the human psyche, the deprivation of freedom, confinement within boundaries and cage-like homes, the imposition of prohibitions, and the exploitation of consciousness through aggressive technological progress. A testing of extreme human capabilities, training, the instillation of fear and guilt, and the forced removal of vital components from the life system.
