Raimundo Figueroa (b. 1957) is a Puerto Rican artist with more than four decades of experience in the field of visual arts. He also has a strong background in classical music as a violinist. He received his early musical education at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico under the direction of the renowned cellist and conductor Pablo Casals. In 1972, he was awarded the Gold Medal by the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, and in 1986, he received an honorary medal at the Mexico Biennial.
Figueroa continued his education at several prestigious institutions, including the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, the University of Cincinnati (Ohio), the Manhattan School of Music in New York, and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous international exhibitions and biennials in countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Italy, and Japan. His works are held in significant public and private collections, including the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (Brazil), the Museo de Arte Moderno in Santo Domingo, the Museo Rufino Tamayo and the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City, the Museo de la Ciudad de Madrid, and the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires, as well as in the corporate collections of UBS Bank, Chase Manhattan Bank, Bacardi Corporation, and Citibank.
Figueroa has worked with a number of international galleries, including Vrej Baghoomian Gallery, Ken Nahan Jr. Fine Art, Virginia Miller Galleries, and Space SBH Contemporary Art.
In 2025, he presents the exhibition “Instructions for Daily Life” at One Gallery, as well as the exhibition “A Place for Us / Un Lugar para Nosotros” at the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
