The photographs were taken in 2011–2012 during a seven-month journey through 18 Occupy movement camps in the USA.

Fifteen years after “We are the 99%” became one of the most recognizable slogans of the new century, ONE Gallery presents in Sofia an extraordinary visual testimony of the Occupy movement.

The exhibition revisits one of the defining social milestones of the early 21st century, while also posing a question that resonates with particular relevance today: what remains of “We are the 99%” fifteen years later?

In the autumn of 2011, Occupy Wall Street transformed Zuccotti Park in Manhattan into the epicenter of an international conversation about economic inequality, corporate influence, political representation, and the relationship between citizens and institutions. The slogan “We are the 99%” quickly transcended the borders of New York, as protest camps and related initiatives emerged in numerous cities across the United States and around the world.
